Chilean Society

In my opinion, the Chilean society during the past 30 years has been prudent, not  change radicaly but it is significant, I would like to say that, while in the past there was much suffering, inequality, intolerance, discrimination and many other evils affecting any society in a bad way, today this has not changed much.

As we all know, the 70-80s were tarnished by a military dictatorship, where the Chileans were subjected in an obviously non-democratic regime and where people who felt different were harshly punished, without any valid reason, which at that time the atmosphere that existed was fear. I can confirm it with the experiences of my parents and people close, my father, for example has to work at night, assuming the risks of what this means, I am referring to the dreaded "curfews" and yet it should do so anyway to feed her three daughters.

Were undoubtedly difficult times. However, I believe it is important to know and comment on all the crimes that were committed during that period, therefore I recommend to visit the Museum of the memory which is located in Quinta Normal, in front of the subway station, I believe that it is a good place to reflect and to ensure that such events in our country never again happen.

Later in the history of our country, returned as cherished democracy that continues to this days. But, despite the fact that it was assumed that they should have ended the injustices, even today, continue. First of all, I'm mapuche and believe that they have committed crimes as brutal as those that occurred in the past. Once my grandfather told me that in the Church of the mapuche, the sky is the roof and floor is the ground, I think this could explain the fight of my people.

In my opinion in the 90's and until today, Chilean society is still prejudiced and discriminatory, not only by the indigenous cultures, also with the underdogs. I think that as society there is so much to grow, we must be more tolerant and fight for what we believe is fair.
